Lysenko's only historical grand opera, «Тарас Бульба», after Gogol, libretto by Mykhailo Starytsky; written 1880-1890, first staged complete in Kharkiv 1924 and Kyiv 1927, and performed since in the 1937/1950s Revutsky-Lyatoshynsky-Rylsky revisions.
