Orchestra del Teatro Massimo Bellini di Catania
Coro del Teatro Massimo Bellini di Catania
Teatro Massimo Bellini, Catania, spring 1986 season. The production is confirmed by La Stampa's digitised archive: the "Spettacoli ...e continuano" listing of 13 March 1986 (archiviolastampa.it, article 0989_06_1986_0157_0002_16567789, TuttoDove supplement, p.2) reads "CATANIA - Questa sera, con la regia di Alberto Fassini, al Teatro Massimo Bellini secondo appuntamento della stagione lirica: I Capuleti e i Montecchi di Bellini, dirige Bruno Aprea" - i.e. the run opened that evening under Aprea, directed by Alberto Fassini. Bruno Aprea's own biography (brunoaprea.com, "Biografia") independently lists "the Bellini Festival of Catania (Capuleti e Montecchi and I Puritani)" among his engagements. Neither of those gives a cast or the individual night: the cast (Miricioiu/Giulietta, Mueller-Molinari/Romeo, Raffanti/Tebaldo, Cava/Capellio) and the day, 23 March 1986, come only from the collector's listing that travelled with the tape - the file "note.txt" in the rip folder, reading "Mller-Molinari, Miricioi, Raffanti, Cava Catania Aprea 23 Mar 1986". Treat day 23 as the tape's own claim, corroborated only in so far as it falls inside a run that La Stampa shows opening on 13 March. operadis (CLBECAPU.HTM) lists 30 Capuleti recordings and does not hold this one at all, and the Teatro Massimo Bellini publishes no historical performance archive. Lorenzo is not named anywhere and is therefore not recorded.
