FindOpera for your AI assistant
Give your AI assistant everything in FindOpera: every complete recording, who sang which role, who conducted, when it was recorded, the releases and barcodes it came out on, and where to stream it. Your assistant searches the catalog itself, answers from it rather than from memory, and links to every page it relies on. Free, and reading needs no account.
https://findopera.com/mcpThe best way to contribute
An assistant with FindOpera connected is how we recommend adding recordings and correcting them. Show it a photo of a back cover, a booklet page or a link, and it checks what the catalog already has, adds what is missing, fixes what is wrong, and records where each fact came from. It follows the same editorial policy as every other editor, so the tedious parts, like spotting a singer who is already here under a different spelling, are its job rather than yours.
Add it to Claude
- In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors.
- Click + Add, then Add custom connector.
- Name it FindOpera, paste the address above, and click Continue.
- For sign-in, choose Sign in when needed, then click Add.
That’s it on the web, the desktop app and the phone apps alike, and in Claude Code when it is signed in to the same account. The free plan allows one custom connector. On a Team or Enterprise plan an owner adds it once under Organization settings, and everybody else clicks Connect. Anthropic’s guide to custom connectors has the details if your menus look different.
Add it to ChatGPT
- Open Plugins, click +, then Add custom MCP server.
- Name it FindOpera and paste the address above.
- Confirm I understand and want to continue, then create it.
- In a chat, type @ and pick FindOpera.
Custom connectors need a paid plan. On a personal account you may first have to turn on Developer mode under Settings, Security and login, and depending on the plan ChatGPT may only be able to read, not edit. OpenAI’s help article has the current rules.
Add it to Muse
- In Muse, open Settings, then Connectors.
- Choose Add custom connector and paste the address above.
If your version of Muse has no such option, ask it in a chat instead: “Add a custom connector called FindOpera at https://findopera.com/mcp. It’s a remote MCP server and needs no sign-in to read.” Muse can read the catalog this way, but can’t sign in to edit it yet.
Other apps
Anything that can add a remote MCP server can read the catalog from the address above. Signing in to edit works from Claude and ChatGPT for now.
Things to ask
“Who sings Scarpia on this? https://open.spotify.com/album/5Rmoglz8Dq5rJTY6VAfndM”
“Which recordings of Tosca have both Callas and Gobbi?”
“Who sang Mimì in Beecham’s 1956 La bohème?”
“List every complete opera Carlos Kleiber recorded, and where I can stream them.”
“I have a CD with barcode 724355623621. What is it?”
And things to hand it:
“Here’s a photo of the back cover. Add this recording to my collection on FindOpera.”
“The booklet in my hand says this was recorded in 1957, not 1958. Please fix it.”
“This cast list is missing the smaller roles. Here’s the booklet page with all of them.”
If your assistant answers from memory instead, say “use FindOpera” and it will look it up.
