Contributing
FindOpera is maintained as a public resource, and everyone who uses it is welcome, and encouraged, to contribute additions and corrections. Since AI agents are quite good at doing nuanced data entry, our supported way to contribute is via an agent.
Set up an agent
The easiest way is an assistant with the AI Connector, in Claude or ChatGPT. For agents that have command line access, we find the command line tool produces significantly better results.
Making edits or additions requires an account, but it is free to set up and currently does not even require an email address.
Prompting an agent
All edits must cite a source. If you have source material, such as a web page, a cast sheet, or a recording's back cover, you can simply hand it to the agent and ask it to make the edit. If you do not have a source, often the agent will be able to search the internet and find one.
With a source in hand:
Here’s a photo of the back cover of a CD I own. Add this recording to FindOpera, or correct it if it’s already there. This booklet page lists the whole cast. Check FindOpera’s entry for this recording against it and fix anything that’s wrong. Here’s the label’s page for this release. Add it to FindOpera.Without one:
FindOpera’s 2019 Der Rosenkavalier under Zubin Mehta has no cast. Find a published cast list and fill it in.FindOpera has Callas’s 1958 La traviata under Rescigno without an exact date. Find one and add it.Editorial Policy
Edits are expected to follow FindOpera’s editorial policy which provides guidance on how to settle judgment calls, like how to evaluate sources, or how to resolve conflicting sources. Agents using the AI Connector or the command line tool should pick it up automatically.
